My Ministry
God has called me to share the good news that although HIV/AIDS
may be a death sentence in PNG, it is not an eternal death sentence. In Christ,
there is forgiveness, and God still loves them. HIV/AIDS does not make a person
less valuable in God’s eyes. Just as Jesus reached out to touch the lepers of
his days, so now I have the chance to touch the lives of these modern-day
outcasts.

In PNG, I work with United to Be, a grassroots HIV/AIDS awareness group.
Together we share God’s message of hope and forgiveness, as well as teach the
people how this disease is spread and avoided. Elizabeth Neuf, another
Valparaiso University graduate, has been working in PNG since August 2006 and
has shared with me United to Be’s dream of opening an HIV/AIDS treatment and
counseling center in the province. Just as Jesus cared for both the physical
and spiritual needs of those who came to him, so through this center may those
infected with HIV/AIDS experience Christ’s love both physically and spiritually.
With God’s help, I hope to see this dream become a reality.
