Stages of Denial
Often denial reigns in the realm of HIV. This denial can be exhibited in four stages:
Stage 1: It doesn’t happen or it won’t happen
Stage 2: If it does happen, it won’t happen to me.
Stage 3: If it does happen and it does happen to me, it won’t be that bad.
Stage 4: If it does happen and it does happen to me and it is that bad, it couldn’t have been avoided anyway.
