Christmas Celebrations
Two days before Christmas, UTB enjoys a Christmas dinner
So much good food.
It’s the girls turn
Two of the chefs, Jennifer and Nilim, pour the punch
Let the Christmas festivities begin.
Later that evening the crew goes Christmas caroling at the hospital
A light shines in the darkness…
And the darkness does not overcome it.
Warming up the guitar
Pastor Kiponge reads part of the Christmas story
In another ward, Liz reads another passage.
Anton and I decide to sing the Magnificat
UTB also performs a skit. Several people of different occupations get an invitation to a birthday party.
Here the rascal mangi (boy) is surprised and excited to get an invite.
A pastor looking for the party
They all expect a big mumu for a king’s birthday, but all they find is a baby in a house for animals
An angel assures them they are in the right place. This king isn’t like other kings
This king may come from humble beginnings but he will save the world. He invites each of us to the party.
Humble Mary, Gentle Mary
Singing God’s praise
In each ward we also passed out Christmas presents
And cake
It’s nice to see smiles on the patients’ faces
Everyone gets a little Christmas cheer
And a warm handshake
Our time is just about done
After caroling and presenting the Christmas story in 4 wards, we head back to the Lutz’s house for cookies and tea
The house fills up pretty quickly
“You can’t see me” and “Two can play this game”
Because there’s not enough room in the house, the kids line up for their treats outside
It’s a hopping party
The next night is Christmas Eve. The youth present a dance for the occasion.
Yes, people can dance in church:-) In fact it’s quite fun
On Christmas morning the kids are back, still praising God.
Thanking Jesus
Some of the youth also offer a song.
This is our marathon service where all baptism, confirmations, and new members are welcomed
Many of my Sunday School kids are baptized today. Horray!
Greeting the new adopted children of God’s family
Liz and I enjoying the Christmas festivities (I was a little distracted by some kids in the front row)
At the end of the service, this grandmother insists on speaking to the congregation.
