HIV Curriculum Kickoff at St Paul's
Back at St. Paul’s High School for a special assembly
Everyone’s gathering at the chapel for to honor the fact that the teachers are going to start incorporating HIV education into their curriculums.
Hundreds of students are in attendance
All eager to hear what will be said.
We start with a few worship songs.
Willie Kombua, the head of the Pimon committee welcomes everyone.
Some of the SDA boys sing a song about where will you be in the future.
UTB performs our “Bridge of Life” drama. On the bridge of life there are many pitfalls, but God gives us things to help us when we fall.
I help with the drama too. You’ll notice I’m sporting the “uniform” of the Pimon committee.
And on the back, the t-shirt says “We say no to pre-marital sex because we value: Our purity, our dignity, and our future. Until given in marriage.”
Carefully taking steps across the bridge of life.
The Elizha speaks to the students about valuing themselves and their lives.
Rev. Kiwa speaks too…unfortunately he speaks on all the evils of condoms and how Christians never use condoms. Sigh. Not really the message we wanted.
Then Mr. Mokavo, the deputy principal of curriculum talks about the national education department’s theme for this year.
I also gave a short speech about the purpose of the material I’ve been working on, how without caring for one’s body all other education is wasted.
Then we sang a closing song, and all the students headed back to their classes to continue their education.
