About every 2 weeks we head into Mt. Hagen to run errands. It’s about an hour and a half away.
It’s the 3rd biggest city in PNG and yet this is the only multi-story building in town
Usually our first and last stop are to use the bathrooms at the Highlander Hotel, the ritziest place in Hagen which gets a lot of international travel
Across the street is the PMV stop, where I would go if I wasn’t riding with the Lutz’s
Air Niugini, the friendly folks that help us book our airline tickets
There’s just as much advertising here as in the States. The only difference is that there’s less products to advertise, so more repetition
The Star Restaurant, owned by some friends in Mambisanda, and where we normally go for lunch
Lots of fast food grease- yum
Today’s Hagen trip requires a trip out to the airport. Some people we see along the way
One of the MAF light planes similar to the one that will bring Dr. Steve back from the Penale today
All kinds of good fruits and veggies
Ginger, passion fruit, cucumbers
Pumpkins (yes, those are pumpkins), green beans, meri blaus’s
Pineapples (one of my favorites)
It might look at little different than the local HEB, but the food is so good and so cheap
One of the women we see as we pass. She’s carrying that whole load of wood with her bilum on her head
What a great day in Hagen and a great view on the ride home
