While Laurence was here as a med student, we headed up to Amapyaka and Pausa to get the perspectives of the students on domestic violence.
In three days, we gathered the perspectives of over 200 students
Each class took about an hour as I translated the survey into tok pisin
I’m excited to see the results, but also dismayed having glanced at the surveys that so many students think violence is the norm and acceptable
One day after we are done at Pausa, Laurence and I hitchhike back to Mambis with the friendly highway police
There we are. Me with my giant infected finger that Dr. Steve had shot local anesthesia into and drained earlier that day. New experiences in PNG ;-)
