The wedding of Vicar Jason and Janet in Yaramanda. Because Vicar Jason is going to be a pastor, the wedding was in a church and in a Western style.
One thing I liked was that the wedding ceremony was part of the worship service itself. The church is packed.
The bride’s family gives her away, and the pastor talks of God’s plans and promises for marriage.
The pastor leads the couple as they vow to be faithful to each other.
All the children try to get a better look. This is probably the first wedding they (or anyone) has seen in a church.
After the exchange of vows and signing of the marriage certificate, the couple return to their seats for the rest of the service.
Notice they aren’t even holding hands. PDA is not acceptable in PNG. Needless to say there wasn’t any “you may kiss the bride” either.
Vicar Jason gets a little teary as he is greeted by his congregation.
Dr. Steve offers his congrats to the happy couple.
